We
all know John Turturro for his collaborations with the Coen Brothers on such
films as Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Big
Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou? And his career as a director
has been lifting off with Romance And Cigarettes, Passione and,
most recently, Fading Gigolo, in which he also co-starred with Woody
Allen. But Turturro has recently talked about how he wants to make a spin-off
movie to the Coen Brothers cult hit The Big Lebowski.
Turturro has said how he would like to revisit The Dude's arch nemesis Jesus Quintana in his own stand-alone film. If you remember John Goodman's character Walter Sobchak from the film he describes Quintana, as “He's a sex offender with a record. He did six months in Chino for exposing himself to an 8-year-old. When he moved to Hollywood he had to go door-to-door to tell everyone he was a pederast."
It's a strange character choice for a stand-alone film. However Turturro has had his mind on it for quite some time with Ethan Coen going on the record to say "He talks incessantly about it, he even has the story worked out, which he's pitched to us a few times, but I can't really remember it. I don't see it in our future."
Turturro spoke at the Taormina Film Festival saying, "If I can get the permission I need, I'd really like to return to that role" and he went on to say that if he can get the rights he would start filming as early as next year.

Will we see a return of the purple clad bowler or will the project wither into nothing?
